Day 5 - Monday - Jan. 31, 2011

Graphics 1 - Today I will go over the PAINTBRUSH in ILLUSTRATOR and I will show you how to customize and create your own BRUSHES.  We will create a SCATTER, ART, & PATTERN BRUSH to be posted to your blog.

Multimedia 1 - Today you will get into your groups and record NEWSCAST 1 using SOUNDTRACK PRO.  Be sure to activate you LOGITECH HEADSET in SYSTEM PREFERENCES and to activate a track for recording.  You will be given your NEWS CONCEPTS back for any revisions you may want to make.

Graphics 2 - Today you will work on your SYMBOL or ICON in ILLUSTRATOR.  You must use the PEN TOOL and only the PEN TOOL for this assignment.  Save for WEB & DEVICES and post the image to your blog. If you finish, you may find the next project HERE!

Multimedia 2 - Today we will come up with and shoot the INTRO for this NEWSCAST.  I will go over the basics of using LIVETYPE.  You have to have an edited piece done for Wednesday.

Day 4 - News Stories & Tools

YOUR SIGNED SYLLABUS IS DUE TODAY!

Graphics 1 - Today we will go over the ILLUSTRATOR TOOLS handout.  I will demonstrate how the tools work and have you experiment with them.

Multimedia 1 - You have your categories and your groups.  Now write your NEWS CONCEPT.  Make sure you format it correctly.

Graphics 2 - You SYMBOLS & ICONS papers are due by the end of class today.  Begin recreating your symbol using the PEN TOOL in Adobe Illustrator.  I will do a demo on the PEN TOOL.

Multimedia 2 - Your concepts for your news stories are due today.  Do you need a CAMERA for the weekend?

Day 3 - Wednesday Jan. 26th, 2011

Graphics 1 - Today we will do the QUICKDRAW exercise.  I will give you 30 seconds to draw the objects I call out.  Make sure to bring something to draw with.

Multimedia 1 - Today we will go over the WRITING AN EFFECTIVE NEWSCAST handout and I will assign your categories for the first NEWSCAST.

Graphics 2 - I will go over SELECTIONS and DRAWING tools in PHOTOSHOP.  I will hand out the SYMBOLS & ICONS paperwork.

Multimedia 2 - Today we will do a practice NEWSCAST and we will watch some of the older NEWSCASTS.

Day 2 - Concepts, Copyrights, & Logos

Graphics 1 - Today we will look at some LOGOS using the ROCKPORT LETTERHEADS & LOGO DESIGN 7.  You will choose a design to talk about and discuss their thoughts behind some of the logos and how you can implement them in your PERSONAL LOGO.

Multimedia 1 - Define theses terms:   COPYRIGHT, FAIR USE, PUBLIC DOMAIN.  Today we will discuss what these definitions mean to you and to how you handle protected media.  We will look at some case studies using the Benedict Website.  We specifically discussed the Batman Forever case under the MOVIES tab & the Dr. Dre/THX case under Music.

Graphics 2 - Today I will review the uses of PHOTOSHOP TOOLS.  Please be ready to ask questions you don't recall from Graphics 1.  You will fill out the PHOTOSHOP TOOLS HANDOUT.


Multimedia 2 - Today we will discuss FROM SCRIPT TO BROADCAST PT. 1.  Please take notes.  We will discuss The Process as well and the Tools we have.  I will demo the new Panasonic 80gb hardrive camcorders we will be using this semester.  Ciao!

Day 1 - Monday Jan. 24th, 2011

Welcome everyone!  Glad to meet you all.  Today we will go over the syllabus and class expectations.  We will also begin setting up your blog.

ALL COURSES:

TODAY: We setup up blogs @ www.blogger.com using our existing emails.  If you have trouble with BLOGGER, you can use an alternate:  www.wordpress.com.

Your 1st blog should say something like - "My name is ________ and this is my blog." and should have stated the one thing you want to learn by the end of semester.

Your 2nd blog should include the picture we used iCHAT to take of yourself and post on your blog account.

MONDAY - SIGNED Syllabus is due!
